The GTCO Fashion Weekend 2024 lit up Lagos once again, drawing fashion lovers, influencers, and designers together for a two-day event at GT Centre, 1 Water Corporation Drive, Oniru, Lagos. Known for encouraging even bolder styles than Lagos Fashion Week, the event featured daring outfits and creative flair that allowed attendees to truly express themselves.

The excitement began on Saturday with runway shows from designers like Ninie, May Africa, Elpis Megalio, Jewel Jemila, Ibilola Ogundipe, Lohije, Xu Zhi, and Selly Raby Kane. Each designer presented a distinctive aesthetic, displaying African fashion and drawing admiration.

As much as the runway, the street style around the event created a spectacle of its own. Some guests wore feathery wings, gliding through the venue like mythical creatures. Others stole the spotlight with bold, eye-catching outfits. One standout, the “sunflower goddess,” turned heads in a gown of golden petals that bloomed as she moved. Another guest embraced an alien-inspired look, shimmering in metallic shades with intricate face paint that caught the lights.

They shared practical advice for budding designers and business owners. The sessions focused on brand-building and creating a sustainable fashion business.

Founded in 2016, GTCO Fashion Weekend has become a significant event for highlighting African talent and giving small businesses a place to grow. This year, online masterclasses with industry leaders like Patricia Bright, Sheika Daley, Ted Gibson, and Lulu Kennedy offered additional insights. These classes focused on brand development and new strategies for success in today’s fashion landscape.
