Netflix has confirmed the return of Supacell series.

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Netflix confirmed via a post on their social channels, the renewal of the Supacell series. With no precise date for the release, this announcement comes just two months after the initial debut on June 27, 2024.

This is no surprise as the audience clamoured for a second season, following the success of the first season. In its premiere week, despite being available for only three days, the show reached number two on the Top 10 chart with 6.4 million views. It maintained the top position on the Netflix Top 10 English language TV charts for the weeks of July 1- 7 and July 8 -14. During its first full week of availability, it garnered 11.8 million views, followed by 7.1 million views in the second week.

Created by Rapman, the story surrounds the life of five distinct people in South London who suddenly develop superpowers. As they deal with the impact of their powers on their daily lives, one man Michael Lasaki (played by British/Nigerian actor Tosin Cole) tries to bring the dots together and soon realizes that their newfound abilities were because at least one of their parents had the sickle cell gene. With little time to grasp the full extent of their situation, they and their loved ones find themselves under attack by a group intent on weaponizing their powers.

The cast of the series includes Adelayo Adedayo, Calvin Demba, Tosin Cole, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Josh Tedeku, Eddie Marsan, Ky-mani Carty, and Rayxia Ojo.

With the first season ending with Michael’s loss of his fiancé, many are eager to see the lengths the heroes are willing to take to get the answers they need.
