Nigerian singer Tems won the Best Gospel/Inspiration Song award for her single “Me & U” at the 2024 BET Awards. The ceremony, an annual celebration of Black excellence in entertainment, was held on June 30 at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater and featured a competitive lineup of international nominees.

In other categories, Burna Boy was edged out by Kendrick Lamar for Best Hip Hop and by Usher for Best R&B/Pop Act. Ayra Starr, despite multiple nominations, did not secure any awards, losing Best New Artist to Tyla, who also triumphed over her and Asake for Best International Act.

Additionally, Seyi Vibez, in his first-ever BET nomination for Best New Actor International Act, was bested by South Africa’s Makhadzi.
