Minz

Minz has long danced at the intersection of Afro-fusion, bending genres without breaking his core essence. His debut album, By Any Minz, brings together his wide-ranging influences, and on “Do,” a standout cut featuring the ever-slick, unflinchingly charismatic Blaqbonez, Minz taps into the effervescent pulse of Lagos nightlife.

From the jump, “Do” grabs attention with its intoxicating log drum rhythm incorporated in a way that feels textured and deliberate, rather than repetitive and monotonous. “Do” explores familiar territory: lust, confidence, and the pursuit of pleasure. It’s a song about reciprocation, about desire, but it never loses its sense of fun. Minz’s delivery is smooth as he sings lines like “Sharp shooter, sharp shooter, shana wole spray all the girls with my bazooka.” His confidence bleeds through each lyric.

Blaqbonez, as always, doesn’t disappoint, bringing his A-game to the feature with a verse that drips with clever wordplay and playful irreverence. His tongue-in-cheek declarations contrast Minz’s earnestness, but they meet at a middle ground that feels authentic. The verses toggle between playful innuendo and braggadocio, with Minz hinting at his irresistible allure and Blaqbonez leaning into his reputation as a lyrical maverick.

In the end, “Do” doesn’t need to break new ground — it’s a vibey track that excels in its simplicity. Minz and Blaqbonez’s chemistry is present, the production is top-tier, and the song’s energy is magnetic. It’s another gem in Minz’s catalog.
