Wizkid Scores Seven AAEA Nominations as Anticipation Builds for "Morayo"

Wizkid, Nigerian music megastar and Grammy Award winner, is up for seven awards at the upcoming Africa Arts Entertainment Awards. Scheduled for August 17, 2024, in Kenya, the ceremony is poised to be a highlight of the entertainment calendar. This recognition comes amidst the growing anticipation surrounding his forthcoming album, titled Morayo.

Wizkid is vying for some of the most coveted titles. He’s in the running for AAEA Continental Artist of the Year, AAEA Best Continental Male Artist, and Continental Album/EP of the Year for S2. His hits “Work Me Out,” “IDK,” “Money & Love,” and “Ebelebe” have also earned him spots in the Best Continental International Feature, Best Continental Afro Rap Fusion Hit, and two Best Continental Afro R&B Hit categories.

 

This year’s ceremony is gearing up to be a spectacular celebration of African music excellence, with Nigerian music experiencing a global moment. Wizkid finds himself competing against fellow Afrobeats giants Davido (with twelve nominations) and Burna Boy (ten nominations) in categories like AAEA Best Continental Male Artiste and AAEA Continental Artiste of the Year. Other nominees include Omah Lay, Yemi Alade, Asake, Tiwa Savage, Simi Kosoko, Majeed, Lojay, Ayra Starr, and Kizz Daniel.
