1. Family Brouhaha – April 11

In Family Brouhaha, director Femi Adebayo explores the tensions and emotions that arise when close-knit families clash. 2. Radio Voice – April 11

Directed and produced by Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Radio Voice is a story about resilience, finding purpose, and the unexpected ways people heal. After hitting rock bottom, a man discovers a gift that allows him to connect with others and change lives starting with his own. RMD stars alongside Nancy Isime and Timini Egbuson. It hits cinemas on April 11.

3. Landline – April 25 (Prime Video)

A single phone call sets off a chain of life-altering events in Landline, a psychological thriller from Dele Doherty. The film weaves together themes of trust, guilt, and deception, and keeps the tension simmering throughout. Starring Zainab Balogun, Gabriella Kingsley, and Bucci Franklin, it drops globally on Prime Video on April 25.

4. Owambe Thieves – April 18

When a young couple runs out of options to support their newborn, they hatch a desperate plan: robbing lavish Lagos weddings. Owambe Thieves is fast, funny, and full of drama, with plenty of tension and some sharp social commentary. Directed by Adeoluwa Owu and produced by Eniola Ajao, it hits cinemas on April 18.

5. Aso Ebi Diaries– April 18

Aso Ebi Diaries, directed by Biodun Stephen, taps into the messy, funny, and all-too-relatable side of Nigerian parties. Set around the culture of wearing matching outfits to events, the film looks at how love, friendships, and family ties can get tangled up when everyone’s dressed to impress.

With a cast that includes Shaffy Bello, Nancy Isime, and KieKie, it’s a sharp, entertaining look at what really goes on behind all the glam.

6. A Lagos Love Story – April 11 (Netflix)

A Lagos Love Story looks at modern relationships in a city that never slows down. From dating drama to the pressure of making it work in the real world, this film captures the highs and lows of love in Lagos. Directed by Naz Onuzo and co-written with Ozzy Etomi, it features Mike Afolarin, Susan Pwajok, and Uche Montana. Premieres on Netflix April 11.

7. Temi and the Labalaba Band – April 26

Temi and the Labalaba Band is a musical drama from Anthill Studios that follows the messy, hopeful journey of a young woman and her band trying to break into the music scene.

At the centre is Temi who is determined, talented, and a little overwhelmed, pushing against the odds with her group of misfit bandmates. Together, they face the usual mix of setbacks, small wins, and industry politics, all while trying to hold onto their sound and each other.

It’s funny in the right places, emotional when it needs to be, and filled with music that actually feels alive. More than anything, it’s a story about the hustle behind the dream, and the people who keep showing up, even when it gets hard.

8. Makemation – April 5

With Makemation, director Michael “Ama Psalmist” Akinrogunde ushers African cinema into uncharted territory, presenting the continent’s first full-length feature built around artificial intelligence. At its heart is the story of a teenage girl, brilliant, resourceful, and trapped by circumstance, who harnesses the power of her mind to rewrite her fate. The film gathers together a story of personal survival with a broader meditation on how emerging technology intersects with human willpower.

Makemation is primed to ignite fresh debates around innovation, equity, and the future of AI in African contexts. It hits screens on April 18.

9. Adunni: Ogidan Binrin – April 25

Starring Funmi Ogidan-Bello, Nancy Isime, and Odunlade Adekola, Adunni: Ogidan Binrin is an epic historical drama directed by Yemi Amodu that depicts a gripping narrative of tyranny, the power to endure, and the quest for liberation. Set in a fictional Nigerian community, the film centers on the rise of a merciless ruler and the brave individuals who dare to oppose him. This highly anticipated film will premier nationwide on April 25th.

10. Osoròngà – April 4

Osoròngà dives into the supernatural with a story that’s as eerie as it is gripping. Written, directed, and produced by Ibrahim Chatta, the film follows a wounded man on the run, chased by dark, mystical forces he doesn’t fully understand. With every step, the stakes rise, and slowing down isn’t an option.

Starring a strong lineup that includes Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Bimbo Akintola, Faithia Williams, and Saheed Osupa, Osoròngà brings suspense, folklore, and survival in a world filled with witches, spirits, and unseen threats. After opening in cinemas in January 2023, it’s now headed to Prime Video.
