Davido pulled off a major coup, selling out Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena this past weekend as part of his ongoing “5ive Alive” Tour, in support of his latest album, 5ive, which was released in April. Over 19,000 fans converged to celebrate Afrobeats’ ascendancy on global soil in a performance that reaffirmed Davido’s status as a transcontinental force on par with Rema, Asake, and Burna Boy, who have previously sold out the iconic venue. The megastar was also presented with a special plaque to commemorate the sold-out show.

The album itself has enjoyed some commercial success with features from high-profile collaborators, Victoria Monét on “Offa Me”, YG Marley on “Awuke”, and ODUMODUBLVCK with Chike on “Funds.” The hit “Offa Me” debuted in the Top 5 simultaneously on the UK Afrobeats and U.S. Billboard Afrobeats charts, a record breaker in itself. “With You,” his collaboration with Omah Lay, took on a life of its own, becoming a bona fide summer jam having gone viral across social media platforms.

On stage, Davido delivered a set that fused new material with fan favorites. The Toronto stop featured a stacked bill: rising singer Moravvey, rap sensation ODUMODUBLVCK, and Afrobeats star Victony opened the show, while Omah Lay, Popcaan, and Mayorkun joined Davido as surprise guest appearances.

The “5ive Alive” Tour rolls on, with upcoming North American stops including July 31st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, August 1st at Agganis Arena in Boston, MA, August 2nd at Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA, August 5th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, and November 20th at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA.
