In celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, Apple Music has launched Oshe Naija (“Thanks Nigeria” in Yoruba), a month-long initiative that pays homage to the regions and sounds that have shaped Nigeria’s music scene and propelled it onto the global stage. As part of this tribute, Apple Music published the list of the top 10 most-streamed Nigerian artists and albums of all time.

The list of the top 10 most-streamed Nigerian artists is led by Burna Boy, whose global breakthrough with “Ye” in 2018 cemented his place as an international star. Grammy winners Wizkid and Davido follow closely in second and third, while Rema and Asake round off the top five, reflecting their monumental success over the last few years. Tems, the only female artist on the list, has become a global sensation with her distinct sound and artistry.

On the albums side, Wizkid’s Made In Lagos, featuring the global hit “Essence” with Tems, tops the list. Burna Boy continues to dominate with Love, Damini and African Giant in second and third place. Tems’ For Broken Ears is the only EP and female-led project on the list. Other entries include Asake’s Mr. Money With The Vibe and Work of Art, Davido’s Timeless, and Omah Lay’s Boy Alone.

The “Oshe Naija” collection is a series of eight curated playlists designed to represent the diverse musical regions of Nigeria. These playlists are exclusively curated by prominent Nigerian artists, each representing a different city:
