The hitmaker was pitted against heavyweight artists including South African pop sensation Tyla, American rappers Kendrick Lamar and Megan Thee Stallion, and fellow Nigerian artist Tems, but she edged them out.

The ceremony also saw British-Ghanaian producer Juls take home the Best Producer award, a well-deserved recognition for his album Peace and Love, which validates his status as one of the most respected names in the game.

The MOBO Awards, an institution that has, on occasion, recognized true musical excellence, expanded its scope this year to honor contributions across genres such as Hip-Hop, Grime, R&B, Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Electronic/Dance, Alternative, Gospel, and African music.
Hosting duties this year are shared by comedian Eddie Kadi and media personality Indiyah Polack who’ve kept the night moving.

With performances from some of the UK’s most exciting names and a crowd that’s fully engaged, the Newcastle debut of the MOBOs is proving to be a success. As the ceremony continues, attention now turns to other key categories, including Album of the Year and Best Newcomer.
