In a surprise turn of events, all ten remaining housemates of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 11 are through to the finale.

Following the triple eviction of Yusuf, Bells and Chimsom Chuka on Sunday, September 20, the finalists had been expected to emerge only after the last round of evictions next Sunday, September 27. 

However, a nomination twist introduced by Big Brother on Monday, September 21, opened the door to moving the finale forward and halting further evictions altogether.

Big Brother asked Barry, as the Ultimate Veto Power Holder, to pick an envelope containing two options: immunity for all housemates, or immunity for none. Barry chose the former, granting every remaining housemate immunity from Sunday’s eviction and automatically pushing all ten into the grand finale.

Tonight, Barry was faced with a decision – Immunity for all or Immunity for none and as Ultimate Veto Power Holder, he used his power to send the house straight into the finale.

Before Barry made that call, only one of the ten had been confirmed as finalists: Barry himself, as the Ultimate Veto Power Holder. Keivo, who won Monday’s Head of House challenge, notably did not earn the immunity that typically comes with the win. 

With ten housemates now set to compete for the ₦160 million grand prize, this repeats Season 10, which also produced ten finalists. Season 11’s winner will be crowned on Sunday, October 4, after ten weeks of competition.

Unlike most previous seasons, where a winner is often fairly predictable by this stage due to social media buzz and street popularity, this season’s eventual victor remains largely unclear, with no obvious frontrunner emerging with less than two weeks to go.

Tram, who had until Sunday night been seen as a strong contender for the crown, narrowly escaped that night’s eviction, finishing fourth from the bottom with just 7.66 per cent of the vote on a night that saw three housemates shown the door. Bluethopia, another housemate perceived as a potential winner, narrowly survived eviction the previous week after coming third from behind on a double eviction night, further underlining how open this season’s race has become.
