Burna Boy, a previous MTV EMA winner, has been nominated for “Best Afrobeats” demonstrating his continued dominance on the international stage. Asake joins Burna Boy in the “Best Afrobeats” and “Best African Act” category, marking a stellar year for the artist as he continues to push the genre forward.

Ayra Starr and Rema, two of Nigeria’s hottest stars, are recognized in the “Best New” and “Best Afrobeats” categories, respectively, with both also competing for “Best Afrobeats.” Their nominations highlight their rapid rise and the youth-led Afrobeats revolution. Tems, who has become a global sensation, is also up for “Best Afrobeats” following her success at major international award shows.

Tyla is also nominated for “Best Afrobeats” and “Best R&B”.

Each nomination signifies broader cultural recognition for Afrobeats artists and the genre as a whole.

The 2023 ceremony, originally set for Paris, was canceled due to global instability following the tragic events in Israel and Gaza. However, this year’s highly anticipated show will take place in Manchester, UK, on November 10 at the brand-new Co-op Live arena.
