Kunle Afolayan Has Commenced Filming of Netflix Movie Anikulapo Season 2

And so the indigenous title on betrayal, love, lust and greed continues…

Award-winning Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has commenced filming of the Netflix series Anikulapo after months of preparation and planning. The director shared behind the scene images of the ongoing set in the Kunle Afolayan Productions (KAP) film village.

Returning actors include; Eyiyemi Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Moji Afolayan, Ronke Oshodi, Oyindamola Sanni and Damilola Ogunsi. New cast members, will include; Jide Awobona, Tayo Faniran, OkuSaga Adeoluwa, Antar Laniyan, and Joke Muyiwa.

Recall Anikulapo: The Rise of Spectre commenced streaming on March 1, 2024, after the success of the feature in 2022. It tells the story of Saro (played by Kunle Remi), an eager traveler who encounters a mystical bird named Akala. Although Saro eventually reached the eternal gates, he left behind a child, and the upcoming season will continue from that point.

In an interview with Nollywire, Gabriel Afolayan, a cast on the series revealed that for the first time ever the KAP motion pictures will shoot the series outside of the Igbojaye film village, Oyo state and take its location to Ghana. “It’s cooking. You wait for it… We’ll start with Igbojaiye and then we go to Ghana,he said

The international collaboration is in partnership with Juliet Yaa Asantewa Asante, the CEO of Ghana’s National Film Authority. “Ghana is calling on the world to come and shoot in Ghana and capture the very beautiful sceneries and facilities Ghana has in their movies,” Asante wrote in an Instagram post.

Images of the crew members during location recce in Ghana last month, have also been shared online and fingers are crossed to see what the producers have in store.
