Mo Abudu gears up for Netflix series 'Blood Sisters'

Following its immense popularity on Netflix, Blood Sisters is gearing up for a highly anticipated second season. Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Media, has confirmed the news, announcing that production will soon begin.

Blood Sisters 2 is officially in progress!” Abudu shared with excitement. “We had a fantastic table read last week, and after 18 months of development alongside our talented writers Craig Freimond, Zeli Zulu, and Adze Ugah, the anticipation is sky-high. Almost all your favourite characters are coming back.”

While fans wait a little longer for the new season, Abudu assured that filming would start in a few weeks. Viewers can expect more suspense and plot twists as the story unfolds.

The first season of Blood Sisters premiered on Netflix on May 5, 2022. The series follows best friends Sarah (Ini Dima-Okojie) and Kemi (Nancy Isime) as they face the deadly consequences of an accidental murder. After Kemi killed Sarah’s abusive fiancé, Kola (Deyemi Okanlawon), the pair go on the run. As they try to navigate a dangerous world filled with deception and peril, all while testing the limits of their friendship and endurance.

The show was met with widespread acclaim for its gripping plot, powerful performances, and its exploration of themes like friendship and survival. Its strong viewership sparked discussions about its cultural impact, making the announcement of a second season highly anticipated.

Season 2 will see the return of familiar faces such as Kate Henshaw, Uche Jombo and Daniel Etim Effiong. Additionally, new cast members like Michelle Dede and Ifeanyi Kalu will be joining the ensemble.

More details are expected to be released in the coming days, as the audience anticipates the debut sometime in 2025. Fans of the Ebony Life Studios are also glued to the screen for Oloture: The Journey sequel.
