Rema’s “Calm Down” remix with Selena Gomez has emerged as the number one most streamed Afrobeats song in US history, surpassing CKay’s “Love Nwantiti.”

This news comes with little surprise, given the flurry of records the song has been relentlessly breaking. The “Calm Down” remix became the highest-peaking Nigerian song on US Billboard Hot 100, after it peaked at no. 3. It was Rema’s first entry on the chart, and Gomez’s second-highest-peaking hit of her career, behind only her 2019 no. 1 “Lose You to Love Me.” It is also the first African song to top the American radio chart. The video is the most-viewed Afrobeats music video on YouTube.
