Tems has dropped the trailer for her highly anticipated debut album, Born in the Wild. Fresh off her performance at Coachella, Tems is gearing up to release the album in May 2024.

The one-minute trailer is a nostalgic trip down memory lane. It features scenes of children playing freely in parks, hinting at deeply personal themes that track Tems’ journey from childhood to maturation.

The visuals are laced with a warm, sentimental vibe, with glimpses of what appears to be a young Tems growing up in the Lagos suburbs, perhaps in a modest home with her mother.

The trailer is soundtracked by a soulful snippet of Tems singing the album’s title track, “Born in the Wild.” The song offers a preview of the sonic textures fans can expect on the full album. In the trailer, she cleverly samples Seyi Sodimu classic 1999 song “Love Me Jeje” on the album Born In Africa.

“Born in the Wild” follows Tems’ string of recent successes, including co-writing Rihanna’s hit song “Lift Me Up” for the Black Panther sequel and a featured spot on Tyla’s self-titled debut album.
