Burna Boy's "Alone" Earns Gold Certification in the United States

Grammy-winning Nigerian megastar Burna Boy has added another feat to his growing list of accomplishments. His fan-favourite single “Alone,” featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This recognition signifies that the song has sold over 500,000 units in the United States.

“Alone” was a standout track on the Ryan Coogler-curated compilation album, which also included contributions from fellow Nigerian artists Rema, Bloody Civilian, CKay, Tems, Tobi Nwigwe, and Fireboy DML.

Burna Boy’s 2018 breakout “Ye” has already hit Gold, while “On the Low” and “Last Last” have pushed him further into Platinum territory. With this latest achievement, he now matches Tems’ record for the second-most RIAA-certified singles by a Nigerian artist, each boasting four certified tracks. Wizkid continues to lead with seven certified singles.

The African Giant is no stranger to milestones as he has spent the last half-decade bending the arc of global pop in his direction. With his forthcoming album, No Sign of Weakness, billed to arrive this year, he’s proving once again that his grip on the culture isn’t loosening anytime soon.
