The second part of the year is starting to get steamy hot for Nigerian and African music, and we can’t get enough of the new releases from the week. This week’s episode of Fresh Out is a blend of surprise drops, highly anticipated singles, and albums. After a successful run in the previous year, Afrobeats Mega star Davido returns to shake the scene with his first single, “I Know Who I Be,” featuring South African stars JAZZWRLD and GL Ceejay.
Since Mushin 2 Mo’Hits, Nigerian singer-songwriter Wande Coal has maintained his OG status, consistently delivering records that stand the test of time. His latest project, King Coal, featuring stars including Wizkid, BNXN, and Ruger, arrives with a chest-thumping statement of his long-standing artistry. While multiple-award-winning singer Ayra Starr and Peggy Gou renew their relationship on another collaboration, “Wo, man.”
Still on projects, Nigerian rapper and activist Falz channels his rage with a socially conscious EP, Break Time, featuring rising stars including Priesst, FirstKlaz, and Oiza x Meyi. After a few releases this year, Mavin act Magixx drops an EP, ATOM II, a sequel to his sophomore EP.
Meanwhile, romance connoisseurs Joeboy and Taves are serenading listeners with their releases “YBTM” and “Uche Jumbo.” Other new drops from this week’s Fresh Out include singles from Gyakie, BOJ, and more. Check them all out below.
