Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 11 has recorded its first Strike, and Nomy is the recipient, after defying Big Brother’s instructions.
Nomy has received the first strike of the Show Ya Sef season for repeatedly defying Big Brother’s instructions.

After finishing last in the Head of House (HoH) challenge on Monday, August 3, Nomy earned the status of Benchwarmer. Big Brother told her that her punishment was to wear a costume and sit on a wooden bench for the rest of the week.
But to the bewilderment of fellow housemates, and Big Brother’s anger, she failed to follow the instruction, even after a further warning, and it culminated in today’s Strike.
Around 6:35pm on Sunday, August 9, Big Brother asked housemates to gather in the lounge, as is customary before he hands out a Strike. The TV in the lounge showed clips of the week’s events, including Big Brother issuing his instructions, scolding Nomy for failing to follow them, and adding a further punishment when she still didn’t comply.
The clips showed Nomy repeatedly failing to wear the Benchwarmer costume and sit on the bench. “That bench is very tiny. My butt doesn’t fit,” she said in one of them.
She also appeared to have allowed a fellow housemate, Aby, to serve her punishment of cleaning the bathrooms and toilets, in violation of Big Brother’s instruction that she do it herself.
Handing down the Strike, Big Brother told Nomy and the rest of the house that there is zero tolerance for disobeying his instructions. “Consider this your final warning,” he told the season’s first Strike recipient, adding: “Let this serve as a reminder: Big Brother’s rules are not suggestions. Big Brother’s instructions are not open to interpretation. And Big Brother’s punishments are not optional.” He warned that the next time he has to address this kind of behaviour, the consequences will be far more severe.
A Strike is one of the most severe sanctions Big Brother can hand a housemate, since it counts toward disqualification: three Strikes trigger an automatic exit. It’s a fate that has befallen several housemates before her, from Tacha and Erica to Beauty and, more recently, Faith, meaning two more Strikes will end Nomy’s run in the house.
It remains to be seen how the housemate, who described herself as “expressive” and a “firecracker with a cold exterior” on day one, will fare walking on eggshells for the rest of her time in the house. Two weeks in, she has already clashed with several housemates, from Neche to Ricky, Bells, and most recently, Tram.
