Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 11 has recorded its first evictions, with Martins and Mercedes exiting the show during Sunday’s live eviction show.

Martins Iyeh, a 30-year-old creative director, visual storyteller, and model from Kogi State, entered the house on launch day saying he was there primarily to have fun. Mercedes, whose real name is Ijeoma Emi, is a Delta State-born entrepreneur and founder of a concierge business who described herself as creative, expressive, and emotionally open.

The pair were among 16 housemates nominated for possible eviction last week, after Head of House Sheba saved Chimsom Chuka from the list. Following viewers’ votes, Martins, who scored 1.63% of the vote, was announced as the first to leave, with Mercedes, who polled 2.29%, following shortly after as the season’s second eviction.

Their two weeks in the house were not without memorable moments. Martins became the first housemate to celebrate a birthday on the show, with Big Brother marking the occasion with a cake and other goodies during the season’s first week. Mercedes was part of the celebration too, giving Martins a dance performance that put her pole-dancer-by-night persona on full display in front of the house.

Sunday’s show also brought news for Chimsom Chuka, who was announced as the winner of the Most Influential Player of the Week. The title, tied to Big Brother’s new performance-based prize structure, earns Chuka immunity from next week’s eviction.

With Martins and Mercedes gone, 22 housemates remain in the Big Brother house out of the 24 who entered when the season, themed “Show Ya Sef,” premiered on July 26. But not all of them are still competing for the record N160 million prize. Aikou and Flora, voted The Gambits in the show’s opening twist, were guaranteed a place in the house through to the grand finale but permanently ruled out of winning the grand prize in exchange. That leaves only 20 housemates still in genuine contention for the season’s cash and SUV package.
