This year has been spectacular for Young Jonn as he continues his run as an Afrobeats superstar, underscoring that his evolution from a prominent producer to one of Nigeria’s biggest artists is unmatched. His single “Glass in the Air” stands out as the emotional centrepiece of his freshly unveiled victory-lap project, Dear London.
Co-produced by Young Jonn and hitmaker Yung Willis, “Glass in the Air” balances highly addictive, up-tempo Afropop rhythms with deeply reflective themes. The track uses smooth, guitar-backed soundscapes to give Young Jonn’s signature, breezy vocal textures absolute centre stage.
“Glass in the Air” represents a retrospective personal look at fame, loneliness, and resilience. Raising a glass to his massive progress—coinciding with his major solo headline performance at the 12,500-capacity OVO Arena Wembley—Young Jonn candidly contrasts his current success with past struggles when nobody was there to support him.
He perfectly delivers this duality on a highly contagious hook: “Glass in the air now, congratulations, cheers. / Ọmọ, I don believe it, I dey wipe my own tears / When I need somebody, nobody wey dey there.”
While Young Jonn has consistently delivered party bangers since the beginning of the year, “Glass in the Air” offers listeners self-actualisation that honours the heavy emotional baggage of success while offering a feel-good soundscape that keeps you moving.
