Last week, on September 12th, the heartbreaking loss of Nigerian rapper, Mohbad, who passed away at just 27 years old shook the nation. The news of his death triggered an emotional response from the country.

Tributes have poured in from both fans and local and foreign celebrities including Popcaan, Lil Durk, and Meek Mill all of whom expressed their condolences.

On social media, #Justice4Mohbad has gained momentum, with people demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise. There has been speculation that suggests that the recurring challenges the late rapper suffered from his former record label, Marlian Records, and former mentor and label head, Naira Marley, contributed majorly to his death.

In various south-western states, passionate fans have taken to the streets to call for justice and answers regarding Mohbad’s tragic departure. A candlelight procession which will take place on September 21 has been organised by his family and management to honour him.

Mohbad passed away in a Lagos hospital, but the details of his death remain undisclosed. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged a comprehensive inquiry, with a special team established for this purpose. They plan to conduct an autopsy and investigate various aspects of the case to uncover the truth.
