2024 Emmy Awards: ‘Shogūn’ Makes History as First Non-English Series with 18 Wins

A night to celebrate outstanding performances and individuals in America’s Television industry.

Japanese language movie Shōgun shines bright at this years Emmy awards.

The Emmy Awards, held its 76th edition on Sunday, September 15, 2024, as it honored outstanding achievements in the television industry. It was a thrilling night with several new records set,  one major one was Shōgun making history as the first non-English-language series to win Best Drama. 

 

Shogūn earned 25 nominations and made Emmy history by winning 14 Creative Arts Emmys, the most for a single season. At the end of the night, the drama series had a total of 18 wins.

 

At the same time, The Bear which features British Nigerian actress Ayo Edebiri dominated the comedy categories.
