To prepare for the thrilling ninth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, an epic ‘Opening Night and Cultural Day’ event took place on Thursday May 18th, setting the stage for all the amazing festivities to come. Celebrities and internet personalities graced the show dressed in their best traditional attires to represent their respective cultures.

The Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola, confirmed that this year’s edition of the AMVCAs is all about taking the recognition of the African film and television industry to soaring new heights.

She said, “Last year, we had an eight-day line-up of activities leading to the award night. This year will be no different. We have decided to sustain the momentum by bringing back all the activities. The only difference is that they will all take place within three days. The three-day extravaganza will start with the ‘Opening Night and Cultural Day’ event– a celebration of African culture and diversity, followed by the ‘Runway Show and Nominee Gala’ on May 19th.”

In this year’s runway competition, participants have the exciting opportunity to win cash prizes and collaborate with Pepsi’s brand team.

All of these fantastic events will pave the way for the highly anticipated award night which will air on Saturday, May 20th on all Africa Magic channels. The incredible Zozibini Tunzi, South African model, and the one and only IK Osakioduwa, the Nigerian TV star who knows how to steal the show, will be the hosts for the night.
