BBNaija Ends Gambit Twist, Puts Aikou and Flora Back In The Game

The Gambit twist on Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 11 is officially over. Aikou and Flora are back in the running for the ₦160 million grand prize.

Big Brother ended the experiment on Monday, August 31. The news followed a public poll that host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced to viewers during the live show on Sunday, August 30, which ran on the show’s official website. The poll gave fans three options: reinstate Aikou back into the game, reinstate Flora back into the game, or reinstate both back into the game. Voting opened at 9pm on Sunday night and closed at 1pm on Monday.

Before Monday evening’s weekly nomination session, Big Brother called Aikou and Flora into the Diary Room separately and told them their time as Gambits had come to an end. That means both housemates are now fully back in the game and eligible to win the grand prize, something they had given up when they took on the Gambit role.

Aikou and Flora were named the season’s Gambit duo back on August 2, after viewers voted them into the role. As Gambits, they were guaranteed a spot in the house until the finale, but they could not win the money. In exchange, they became Biggie’s secret agents inside the house, carrying out missions without letting other housemates find out.

Their identities as Gambits had to stay hidden the whole time. Getting caught could have meant serious punishment, including disqualification. Despite the risk, the pair pulled off several tasks for Biggie.

Flora’s first assignment was the “wrapper heist.” She was told to quietly collect wrappers and fabrics from around the house and hide them, without anyone realising she was behind it. Her second mission had her secretly taking housemates’ favourite personal items and stashing them away for Biggie, again without getting caught.

Aikou, on his part, was handed a mission to plant doubt in a housemate’s mind about their bond with another contestant. He had to do it quietly, without anyone suspecting Big Brother was behind it, all while disrupting friendships and alliances from the inside.

But their most talked-about mission came last, and it involved both of them. Biggie gave Aikou and Flora separate, secret instructions without either knowing the other had received the same one. Aikou was told to make Flora believe he was developing real feelings for her. Minutes later, Flora was given the same order in reverse: make Aikou believe she genuinely liked him. Neither was allowed to let the other know it was all a Biggie-assigned task.

The mission blurred the line between real emotion and game strategy for weeks, leaving housemates and viewers alike unsure how much of the Aikou-Flora dynamic was genuine and how much was performance. With the pair now fully back in the game, that question may finally get an honest answer, since neither of them has anything left to hide.

For now, both housemates return to the house as full contestants, eligible for the same prize as everyone else. They are also up for possible eviction next Sunday, September 6, leaving their fate in the game in the hands of viewers once again.
