New Nollywood romantic comedy Call of My Life wrapped its second weekend with a 22% jump in ticket sales, grossing ₦93.1 million between Friday, May 22 and Sunday, May 24 — up from the ₦76.5 million it recorded during its opening weekend. The surge pushes the colourful film past the ₦200 million mark, earning a total of ₦222.2 million in only ten days of theatrical release.

Besides earning nearly ₦100 million on its second weekend in theatres, Call of My Life also retained the top spot from its opening weekend ahead of films such as Michael, Mortal Kombat 2, Okanjuwa, and The Boy Who Gave, all of which earned considerably lower figures.

The second-weekend uptick is significant given that the film recorded the gains outside of any festive period — no public holiday, no long weekend. Most films shed a portion of their opening audience in their follow-up frame, making a week-on-week increase uncommon.

The film is a Bluhouse Studios production distributed by FilmOne Entertainment. It was directed by Dammy Twitch — best known for directing music videos for artists including Davido — marking his feature film debut. The screenplay was written by Uzoamaka Power, who also stars as the lead, with Blessing Uzzi producing.

Call of My Life follows Soluchi, a Catholic Igbo call centre agent still healing from being jilted at the altar by her ex, Kalu, played by Zubby Michael. Her world shifts when a routine work call connects her with Eli, a charming stranger played by Andrew Bunting. The love triangle that follows — Kalu returning to reclaim her while Eli offers something new — forms the emotional spine of the film. Nkem Owoh and Patience Ozokwo play Soluchi’s parents, with Beverly Osu and Broda Shaggi rounding out the supporting cast.

FilmOne described the opening as the third-biggest Nollywood debut of 2026 and the biggest romcom opening outside of Valentine’s season. The film is also 2026’s highest-grossing directorial debut.

With Eid-el-Kabir holidays on Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, cinemas are likely to see a spike in footfall over the extended holiday window. If Call of My Life holds its momentum into that frame, a third-weekend haul that eclipses even its second could be on the cards.
