One of Nigeria’s contemporary hitmakers, Joeboy, settles in with another EP: Body, Soul & Spirit. This EP follows closely on the heels of his lauded sophomore project, Body & Soul, a release that catapulted him past three billion career streams. 

As the title suggests, Body, Soul & Spirit picks up the thematic threads from its predecessor, presenting a dark and moody journey that stands as the counterpoint to the uplifting tones of Body & Soul. 

Five tracks and 15 minutes short, the EP is a compact but triumphant body of work. Joeboy explores his growth as an artist unafraid to explore the depths of his emotions. Each cut differs but feels the same.

The EP commences with “Only God Can Save Me” where a contemplative Joeboy grapples with the realization that even those closest to us are fallible. It is technically a lowdown on adulting – no one’s got it all figured out. His introspective lyricism sets the stage for the EP, creating a foundation of raw vulnerability and authenticity.

Segueing into “24/7,” the narrative takes a turn toward existential reflection. Amidst infectious beats, Joeboy contemplates life’s complexities, offering a philosophical perspective on the transient nature of our daily concerns.

“Telephone” dials us into love vibes, where Joeboy serenades that one special person.

“Enemy” hits, and Joeboy’s facing the music. He confronts personal imperfections within the context of a broken relationship. Demonstrating a fitting sense of self-awareness, he owns up to the messy bits of a breakup, admitting that he’s not the relationship hero.

Wrapping it up with “Surviving,” Joeboy emerges from the emotional battlefield, all resilient and ready for the next chapter.
