Lagos Fashion Week returns for its 12th edition from October 26th to 29th, 2023. This event puts Lagos at the forefront of the global fashion community, celebrating Africa and diaspora’s indigenous craftsmanship.

As a pivotal force in Africa’s fashion ecosystem, Lagos Fashion Week aims to drive fashion beyond boundaries, empowering communities and creating meaningful socio-economic impact across the continent.

To support young talents and promote sustainability, it revamps one of its key initiatives, Green Access. This year, they seek 5 promising Nigerian designers who embrace sustainability by using waste materials in their designs. Green Access fosters resource efficiency, biodegradability, and ethical production, empowering the next generation of fashion leaders. It was launched in 2018 to spotlight fashion enterprises transforming their business models and embracing strategies toward a more environmentally, socially, and ethically conscious production.

“For the last couple of years, we have positioned the Green Access initiative as a vehicle to encourage and educate budding designers on the increasing need to build economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable fashion businesses. It’s very important that they are supported to do so when they are still in the start-up stages of their business, but we have to amplify this message,” expresses Omoyemi Akerele, founder of Lagos Fashion Week.
