Since he gained prominence back in 2016 — with “Tonight”, the saturnine cult classic that charmed its way to into hearts and charts — Nonso Amadi’s career has proceeded in leisurely fashion. He’s proven to be a reliable songwriter and vocalist, releasing a handful of singles — and Free, his 2021 EP — in the years that followed his breakthough, but these years have also seen the reclusive singer completely withdraw from the limelight, going months on end without any social media activity or promise of new music. His occasional disappearance, in truth, might have stalled his career, but regardless, Amadi is finally here with When It Blooms, his long-awaited debut studio album. 

Speaking to Apple Music ahead of his album release, the singer siad: “I want [this to feel] like a reintroduction to Nonso Amadi”. Released under Universal Music Canada, Blooms finds Nonso Amadi opening up like he’s never done before, singing warm and wistful tunes about love, life and lust. The 15-tracker features Zinoleesky, Jamaican-American rapper Beam, Tay Iwar, Tamera and OVO duo Majid Jordan with production credits from the likes of Dera, P.Priime, London, and Mont Jake.
