The first official trailer for the epic African fantasy Children of Blood and Bone was released today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, and Nigerian singer Tems has been confirmed as the Executive Producer and Curator for the Paramount Pictures film. This is yet another meteoric achievement, as the Grammy-winning star becomes the first woman to executive produce a soundtrack of this scale.

The announcement was confirmed on social media by Director Gina Prince-Bythewood and the film’s social media pages following an exclusive trailer launch event in Brooklyn, New York, last night, where Wilson Morales, founder of BlackFilmandTV, first broke the news. Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, has also confirmed the news via his social media pages.

Tems will be overseeing the film’s musical direction and has recorded three original songs for the project, further cementing her influence on one of the most anticipated global film releases. This marks yet another moment for the singer in the film industry after her contribution to Marvel’s blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Prince-Bythewood revealed that Tems was chosen to lead the soundtrack for her creative vision and the quality of the final project. The announcement also comes a day after Tems’ hit single “Me & U” soundtracks the film’s first behind-the-scenes teaser.

Alongside Tems’ executive production and curation, Grammy-winning star Burna Boy has also been confirmed as the executive music consultant to help shape the project’s overall sound and creative direction. Aside from Tems’ three new tracks, the announcement further confirmed the addition of Nigerian stars Fireboy DML, BNXN, and Ayra Starr. This brings a powerhouse of contributions from Nigerian stars to Tomi Adeyemi’s 2018 best-selling novel of the same name.

Set for a theatrical and IMAX release on January 15, 2027, the trailer’s supporting cast also spotlights other Nigerian presence, both on screen and behind the scenes, as the film’s cultural footprint grows. Nollywood icon Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Ayra Starr, Tèmítópé Fágbénlé, Kola Bodunde, Shamz Garuba, and Pamilerin Afolake Ayodeji have also been confirmed to star in the film.

Across global cinema, Nigerian stars continue to make substantial contributions. And with their presence in Children of Blood and Bone, the forthcoming film is already shaping up to be one of the standout releases for next year.
