Straffitti

Straffitti’s “Personally” is the kind of track that shows just how layered an artist can be when they’re truly in command of their craft. Born Olawale Olukolade, Straffitti is a multidisciplinary creative force in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, wearing many hats as a rapper, graphic designer, photographer, and fashion designer. Strutting as an all-round creative, his love for music bloomed right from his childhood. Citing music influences from the 2000’s — Akon, T-Pain, Sean Kingston — and trap artists in Miami, Los Angeles, his genre is one that is marked by the synthesised beats of hip-hop and trap. In 2017, Straffitti released his debut EP Vanilla Sky, and went on to drop a 13-track album, titled Molotov, in 2018 which featured talented hip-hop acts like PsychoYP and Blaqbonez.

The music star recently dived back into the music scene with a sharp EP which he dubs: Final Warning! The project is a 7-track multi-genre EP that combines elements of Afropop, dancehall, and trap. “Personally” is an instant bop that leads listeners straight from progressive head nods to full-on, head-to-toe vibrations.  The track’s production is sharp and clean, with synths and 808s pulsing beneath his vocals, creating a dynamic push-pull that keeps listeners hooked. His lyrical delivery oscillates between braggadocio and charm, painting a vivid picture of a man who knows his worth and revels in it. He flexes, “My melodies / No fit compare with no nobody / Omo mummy wan / Wan follow me / Cause my music / E dey sweet her body,” expressing a wink-and-nod acknowledgment that he knows just how good he is — both in the studio and outside of it.
