TurnTable Charts Launches New Certification System, TCSN.

Turntable Charts has launched a certification system under a new arm called TCSN. It is designed to “celebrate long-standing artistic achievement within our local marketplace.” The certification system is based on on-demand streaming and digital downloads. For on-demand streaming, paid streams weigh higher than ad-supported streams.

The objective is for TCSN to become a huge part of the Nigerian music community and serve as “the foundation for which more rigid and comprehensive systems will be built. TCSN will gradually become a part of an industry-wide association and will continue to collect and celebrate artistic achievement in the country.”

Audio streaming and digital downloads are the main bases used for the certification of singles. Thus,

1 unit = 150 streams.

Silver: 25,000 units

Gold: 50,000 units

Platinum: 100,000 units

Currently, BNXN fka Buju’s “Kilometer (Remix)” with Zinoleesky is the first Platinum-certified single of this streaming era in Nigeria. For surpassing fifteen (15) million on-demand streams in Nigeria, the singer is the first to receive the platinum plaque.

Album certification is also based on audio streaming and digital downloads. According to TCSN, “A title is classified as an ‘album’ if it has more than three singles and/or surpasses a 15-minute runtime.” Hence, 1 unit = 1500 streams

Silver: 12,500 units

Gold: 25,000 units

Platinum: 50,000 units

The official application process for the certification will begin on Monday, February 20th, 2023.
