London-based alternative soul artist Zubi has dropped his new single, “Nepa,” ahead of his highly anticipated album Ghost of the Buj. This emotive ballad follows the success of “Journey To Idan”. Written and composed by Zubi, “Nepa” explores the anguish of betrayal and the desire for retribution through intense lyrics and a powerful vocal performance.

The track captures the raw emotions of a lover’s betrayal and the complexity of navigating pain and anger. It offers a cathartic release for listeners who have experienced deceit, reminding them they are not alone in their suffering.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind “Nepa”, Zubi shares, “this song is inspired by a deeply personal experience of betrayal by someone I deeply cared for. It left me feeling a profound sense of anger and hurt. I felt like I deserved some form of compensation or acknowledgment for the emotional turmoil I endured. He continues, “To cope with these intense emotions, I turned to music as my sanctuary and therapeutic outlet. Creating this song was a therapeutic process for me, allowing me to channel all my feelings of betrayal, anger, and hurt into something that could express and process those emotions.”

Originally from Abuja and now part of London’s eclectic music scene, Zubi has made a name for himself with his distinct blend of alternative soul and R&B. He has released seven critically acclaimed albums and achieved viral success with tracks like “Sugar” and “Juju,” which explore profound themes of human emotion and love.
