Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have seen a slight drop in the latest FIFA World Rankings, falling two spots to 30th.

This comes after a mixed bag of results in their March international friendlies, where they secured a 2-1 victory over Ghana under new interim boss Finidi George, but fell short 2-0 against Mali.

Despite the dip, the three-time African champions maintain a comfortable lead over their regional rivals, Ghana, who themselves dropped one place to 68th globally.

Nigeria Stays Ahead of Continental Powerhouses

More impressively, the Super Eagles remain the third-highest-ranked African nation, trailing only Morocco (13th) and Senegal (17th). They also hold their own against teams like Erling Haaland’s Norway (47th), Mohamed Salah’s Egypt (37th), and upcoming World Cup co-host Canada (49th).

World Order Remains Largely Unchanged

At the top of the table, Argentina continues their reign as world number one, followed by familiar faces like France, Belgium, England, and Brazil. Rounding up the top ten are Portugal, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Croatia.

The next FIFA World Rankings update is scheduled for after the June international fixtures. The Super Eagles will be hoping to use that window to climb back up the rankings table.
