Super Falcons

Nigeria’s Super Falcons face a tough challenge in Pretoria on Tuesday, aiming to maintain their unbeaten record against South Africa on South African soil. The gap between the teams has narrowed since Nigeria‘s dominant 7-1 win in a 1995 World Cup qualifier.

SUPER FALCONS VS SOUTH AFRICA HISTORY

Despite recent South African victories, the Falcons still hold the historical edge. In their 24 encounters, Nigeria has won 15 times, with five draws and only four wins for Banyana Banyana. Notably, one of those draws led to a Nigerian victory in a penalty shootout at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa’s wins haven’t come in familiar territory. Their victories occurred in neutral venues or Nigeria itself. Inside South Africa, the Falcons have a strong record, winning five of their seven meetings and drawing the other two.

The Falcons are well-prepared, arriving in Pretoria on Monday and settling into their hotel. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade has been instrumental in recent games, scoring the consolation goal in the last AFCON meeting and the winning penalty in the most recent encounter.

Looking ahead, Tuesday’s match promises a close fight, with Nigeria aiming to extend their dominance and South Africa seeking their first win on home soil.
