MTN Nigeria has been named as the sole telecommunications partner for the live streaming of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) games, which is a big development for football fans in Nigeria. The Nigeria Premier League Ltd., GTI, and Propel Sports Africa recently formed a joint venture with the goal of bringing live NPFL matches to fans across the country. This cooperation is the follow-up to that endeavor.

Propel Sports Africa, the driving force behind this initiative, has secured a deal with MTN Nigeria to exclusively broadcast NPFL games on mobile devices within the MTN network. Football enthusiasts can now look forward to accessing live streams of eight games each weekend, translating to over 300 games per season, all available on their mobile devices.

Basil Kabbani, Chairman of Propel Sports Africa, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “The engagement with the team at MTN has been amazing, from the Digital VAS to the Marketing and Commercial team, their approach has been consistently professional, and their enthusiasm for the NPFL content has been infectious. From the very start of our negotiations, we knew MTN was the right partner to give our great content, the platform it deserves.”

The partnership, spearheaded by Propel Sports Africa President Edward Simons and MTN Chief Operating Officer Hassan Jabar, will also include in-and-post-game highlights delivered in real-time to MTN subscribers through the NPFL Live OTT platform.

Victor Okobi, Propel Sports Africa’s in-Country Director, expressed his confidence in the collaboration, stating, “I cannot think of a better network than MTN to showcase the best of Nigerian soccer on NPFL-Live.”

Hassan Jaber, Chief Operating Officer of MTN Nigeria, shared his excitement about the opportunity, saying, “We are excited about this opportunity to deliver entertaining content to our subscribers. It is a testament to our commitment to sports development in Nigeria. We know Nigerians love football and we are glad to partner with Propel Sports Africa and GTI to deliver Nigerian Premier League matches in high definition to our customers.”

Abubakar Lawal, Group Managing Director of GTI, highlighted the partnership’s significance, emphasizing its potential to elevate the visibility and engagement of the NPFL.
