Life on campus just got a digital upgrade as the University of Ilorin Football League (UFL) unveils its cutting-edge mobile app, making it easier than ever for students to stay in the game.

The UFL, a beacon of hope for budding football talents within the university, has been a breeding ground for young talents aiming to make it to the professional football scene. With seven years of remarkable success, the league has continuously nurtured undergraduates’ dreams of one day gracing the pitch in the big leagues.

Now, taking a leap into the digital age, the UFL introduces its mobile app, tailored after the Premier League’s highly acclaimed application. This feature-rich app boasts news updates, in-depth statistics, live league tables, fixtures, and more, bringing the excitement of football straight to the palm of your hand. You can easily download the UFL app from the Google Play Store, ensuring you’re never far from the latest updates and scores.

Seven Years of Excellence

The University of Ilorin Football League (UFL) embarked on its journey in 2016, and over the past seven years, it has been a pivotal platform for the growth and development of student-athletes. The league’s primary objectives include keeping undergraduate footballers fit, instilling a sense of competitiveness among clubs, and providing students with hands-on experience in modern sports administration and coaching.

The UFL operates with twelve teams that battle it out in a regular league format. While the league has consistently followed this format, exceptions were made for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons due to time constraints, leading to an abbreviated format.

Rising Stars and Sporting Excellence

The UFL has witnessed remarkable success stories since its inception in 2016. Notably, the league has crowned three champions thus far, with City Boys FC claiming victory in the 2016/2017, 2019/2020, and 2020/2021 seasons. Marine FC emerged as champions in the 2017/2018 season, while H-High FC clinched the title in 2018/2019.

Behind the scenes, the tournament’s organization and maintenance fall under the capable hands of the League Board Committee, a fifteen-member crew committed to ensuring the league’s smooth operation.

Mark Your Calendars for the Grand Finale

Football enthusiasts, especially those within the university community, are in for a treat as the final match of the 2021/2022 season approaches. Set to take place on September 21, 2023, at the iconic Unilorin Mainbowl, the encounter will pit FC Zeus against Blazing Stars in what promises to be a thrilling showdown.
