The Super Eagles of Nigeria have won the 2025 Unity Cup after edging Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz 5–4 on penalties, following a 2–2 draw at the Brentford Community Stadium in London on Saturday, May 31.

Fresh off a 2–1 victory over Ghana in the semi-final on Wednesday, Nigeria started brightly against a Jamaica side that defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 to make the final. Having opened the scoring for the Super Eagles against the Black Stars, Cyriel Dessers turned provider this time, setting up Moses Simon to give Nigeria the lead in the ninth minute. However, the advantage was short-lived, as the Reggae Boyz equalised just four minutes later.

The rest of the first half saw no further goals, but the second half provided more excitement. Nigeria regained the lead through a fine strike from Samuel Chukwueze in the 53rd minute, before Jamaica’s persistence paid off in the 63rd minute when Jonathan Russell brought them level once again.

The resulting penalty shootout was just as tense, but Nigeria’s composure and quality shone through. Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Christian Uche all converted their spot-kicks to seal the win for Nigeria.

This result sees Nigeria defend their Unity Cup title, 21 years on from their first win in 2004.

Meanwhile, Ghana secured third place earlier in the day with a commanding 4–0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.
