Nigerian celebrities were buzzing on social media after the Super Eagles clinched a thrilling victory over South Africa in a penalty shootout. Notable figures like Burna Boy and other music and lifestyle icons showered praise on Jose Peseiro’s team for their performance.

The hero of the night was Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili, whose outstanding saves made the difference in securing Nigeria’s spot in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.

The game saw its fair share of drama, with Nigeria taking the lead through a penalty converted by Troost-Ekong after Victor Osimhen was fouled in the box. Despite coming close to doubling their lead, Nigeria faced a setback when South Africa equalized late in the game from the penalty spot.

Extra time brought more tension, especially when South Africa was reduced to 10 men after Grant Kekana received a red card. The match eventually went to a penalty shootout, where Nwabali emerged as the hero with crucial saves.

The victory was sealed by substitute Kelechi Iheanacho, who confidently dispatched the final penalty kick, sending the Super Eagles into their first AFCON final since 2013.

Amidst the celebrations, Nigerian celebrities took to social media to share their excitement and engage in friendly banter with fans from South Africa.
