Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named his official 23-man squad for Nigeria’s September 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
Trimmed down from the 31-man provisional list released last week, the final squad for the must-win qualifiers features captain William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, whose fitness had been in doubt with his club side Chippa United.
Notably, there is no representation from NPFL players, with the omission of 15-year-old Ebenezer Harcourt, the only home-based player included in the provisional squad.
The Super Eagles camp opens in Uyo on Tuesday, September 2, ahead of the September 6 clash against Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. They will then face South Africa in Bloemfontein on September 9.
The Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2026 World Cup hinges on winning these two games. They currently sit fourth in Group C with seven points from six matches, six points behind leaders South Africa.
