It’s ‘partTEA’ time, and the Rave Lord is officially back to claim his territory. Marking his first official solo record of the year, Afrobeats megastar Rema has dropped his highly anticipated single, “TEA”, and it’s been buzzing everywhere.

The new track serves as the lead preview for his upcoming third studio album. The theatrical rollout for the album launched on August 1, when Rema hosted an exclusive cinema date in Lagos for his fans, hiding cryptic riddles inside envelopes beneath the seats to decode the title of the upcoming project.

Produced by American multi-platinum hit-maker Mustard alongside Rema’s longtime collaborator London, “TEA” arrived with an unexpected sonic structure. The track is a cross-continental collision, layering heavy log drums and a prominent, nostalgic background flute melody over a high-energy Brazilian funk and electronic dance foundation.

Rema effortlessly continues to alternate between sounds, reminding listeners of his flawless versatility. On his track, he maintains that, delivering a high-pitched, hypnotic, and wildly catchy repetitive hook.

Inspired by the social media lexicon, “TEA” is an energetic party anthem targeting late-night club culture, attraction, and unfiltered confidence. Rema adopts an aggressive, adrenaline-fueled swagger to toast to a mesmerising woman’s curves and physical movement, delivering explicit, flirtatious bars.

Rather than sticking to standard sub-genres, Rema uses “TEA” to fuse the heavy impact of electronic club soundscapes with the rhythmic elements of contemporary Afropop. While his critically acclaimed sophomore album, HEIS, leaned heavily into high-speed, abrasive rawness from local sounds, and his debut album Rave & Roses captured bright global pop melodies, “TEA” signals a distinct evolution for his third studio album.
