Nigerian R&B and Afrobeats star Konstance is poised to take the music scene by storm with her debut single, “My Heart,” releasing June 28th. This exciting track follows a whirlwind year for the 19-year-old talent. In 2023, she collaborated with legendary producer Rodney Jerkins for the award-winning “The Color Purple” soundtrack.

“My Heart” is the lead single for Konstance’s highly anticipated debut EP In The Beginning, arriving later this year. Co-written with rising Afrobeats star Majeed, the song is a thrilling blend of R&B and Afrobeats. The lyrics paint a picture of young love and the yearning of hopeless romantics, all delivered against Afrobeats and dancehall rhythms.

Speaking about the inspiration behind “My Heart”, Konstance says, “This is one of my favourite songs I have recorded so far. Because it’s a love song, I’m sure people will be wondering if “My Heart” is from a personal experience. The song is about giving your heart up for love, and although I have never been in love, I’m saying if I do give my heart up for love, I hope I won’t get hurt. Hence the line ‘if I give you my heart, dakun ma je ko fo’, which means ‘if I give you my heart, please don’t break it’, and putting Majeeed on the song was the best idea. I mean what’s a love song without Majeeed!”

Konstance’s artistry shines through on the track, portraying her exceptional vocal range and ability to easily move between English, Pidgin, and Yoruba.

Konstance’s rise to fame began with her breakout single “Melo” in 2023.

Her talent has garnered recognition from industry heavyweights like Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, and Kizz Daniel, and her upcoming role alongside Seal in the Idris Elba-directed film Dust To Dream further cements her status as a rising star.

Despite her flourishing career, Konstance remains grounded, balancing her studies at Lagos State University with her musical passion.
