Mike Afolarin takes on an intense role in House of Ga'a

A recently released teaser of the upcoming Netflix movie House of Ga’a offers a glimpse of Mike Afolarin’s daring role as Oyemekun. In the clip, Oyemekun is put up against the fierce looking Idi Al Farouk (Kelvin Power) who shows no mercy as they battle it to their last breathe.

Afolarin, known for his diverse characters in various movie genres, has most recently starred in Ajosepo as a lover boy. The audience is, however, eager to see him take on a more intense role in this highly traditional story.

House of Ga’a, directed and produced by renowned filmmaker Bolanle Austen-Peters alongside Joseph Umoibom, is set in the 18th-century Oyo Empire. The film is based on the story of the ferocious and feared Prime Minister/kingmaker Bashorun Gaa. The story unveils his journey into becoming more powerful than the kings he enthroned.

Enlisted as one of the exciting movies to look out for, the movie is scheduled to commence streaming on Netflix, on  July 26, 2024.

The upcoming movie will feature a mix of seasoned and emerging Nigerian actors, which includes Femi Branch, Mike Afolarin, Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Ibrahim Chatta, Bimbo Manuel, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Adebayo, Gabriel Afolayan, Jide ‘JBlaze’ Oyegbile, Seun Akindele, Yemi Blaq, Adeniyi Johnson, Muyiwa Ademola, William Benson, Stan Nze, Bam Bam Adenibuyan, Olayode Juliana, Temiloluwa Fosudo, Gbenga Titiloye, and Kunle Coker.

This marks Austen-Peters’ second venture into streaming platforms this year, following award-winning Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, which recently premiered on Prime Video after a brief cinematic run. With a new focus set on telling hidden Nigerian stories, fingers are crossed to see what new height this particular title will break.
