8 Pump-Up Tracks for Super Eagles at AFCON 2023

Since the 2023 AFCON began, Nigerians have been their most patriotic self, with good reason. The Nigerian football team, Super Eagles, has consistently risen hopes without dashing any. They have given their all. They’ve fought hard, played their hearts out, and shown flashes of true brilliance. Win or lose, they deserve our respect, appreciation, and celebration. In preparation for the finals on Sunday, February 11th, here are eight songs to blast:

Austino Milado – “Super Eagles Carry Go (Walele)”

This song is a classic Nigerian football anthem, and it simply wouldn’t be right to leave it out of this list. It has been chanted by fans for generations and it always ignites a wave of nostalgia. It is an iconic anthem synonymous with Nigerian football victories. The lyrics, “
we no dey fear challenge” has been the unofficial motto of the Nigerian team this year.

Solidstar  — “Super Eagles”

Clear the road for Super Eagles…anybody wey we catch for road…we go teach dem lesson..” This track is precisely the tune for Nigerians this AFCON. And Super Eagles making it to the finals, after beating out the Ghana team, Angolan team, South African team just validates it even more. Come Sunday, we might indeed teach Ivory Coast “a lesson”, too.

General Pype — “Champion”

This upbeat Afropop anthem is tailor-made for celebrating The song’s title speaks for itself, and the music does the talking. As true champions, Super Eagles has been on a winning spree. The lyrics exude confidence and pride

Small Doctor — “Penalty”

This song needs no introduction. After a nail-biting penalty shootout against South Africa, “Penalty” by Small Doctor transcends a record for mere celebration.

Davido’s collaboration with the Sunday Service Choir for “Stand Strong” really hits home with its messages of resilience and determination. Olamide & Phyno — “Dem Go Hear Am”

Olamide and Phyno dropped this song to support the Super Eagles at the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, but it’s relevant in this period too. This song is all about confidence, swagger, and celebrating success in true Nigerian style. The fast-paced beats, verses brimming with self-assured lyrics, and the overall braggadocious vibe all embody the Nigerian spirit.

Majeed – “Let’s Do It Again”

No celebration would be complete without the official anthem of the champions themselves. Commissioned by the NFF ahead of the tournament, it served as a rallying cry for the Super Eagles. Now, with victory within reach, the song takes on a new meaning.

2Baba & Omawunmi – “Power of Naija”

This song’s influence goes beyond the specific context of the 2010 World Cup qualification. Composed by the maestro Cobhams Asuquo and belted out by 2Baba alongside the soulful Omawunmi, “Power of Naija” is a celebration of the Nigerian resilience and potential.
