A Recap of the Coolest Events that Made December 2023 ‘Detty’ AF

December 2023 was a wild and exciting month filled with lots of awesome shows, concerts, festival. We relive some of the coolest.

How dirty was your December? Here at Bounce, ours was filthy! The People of Bounce were present at the hottest events that shaped December in Lagos. Now we’re here to rewind and offer a simple rundown of the coolest happenings that made December 2023 in Lagos a truly detty one.

 

Flytime Fest

 

Flytime Fest is Africa’s biggest music and live entertainment festival, featuring a diverse lineup of genres and talents from the continent and beyond. Across four epic days, it offered a great experience of different live shows.

 

Day 1

Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged kicked off Flytime Fest at the Eko Convention Centre with a global lineup of talents. Attendees enjoyed performances by American rapper Roddy Ricch, Fireboy, Iyanya, Ajebo Hustlers, BNXN, Brazy, Fave, Mayorkun, Spyro, Wurld, Bloody Civilian, Blaqbonez, Raybeykah, Seyi Vibez, Shallipopi, Victony, and a surprise performance by the queen of Afrobeats, Tiwa Savage.

 

Day 2 (Headlining Artist – Kizz Daniel) 

 

Kizz Daniel, the star of the night, rocked the stage celebrating ten years of hit songs which he made everyone sing along to. Surprisingly, he was joined by Mayorkun and BNXN.

Kizz Daniel also gave away lots of money to lucky fans, making the night even more special.

Day 3 belonged to Davido who brought the stage to life with classics like “Aye” and “Dami Duro,” dropped fresh fire from his Grammy-nominated album, Timeless, and even had special appearances by Peruzzi, Morravey, etc.

Asake’s really energetic performance was a memorable close to Flytime Fest. Like always, Mr Money with the Vibe was super hyped and had the crowd engaged.

 

Even with Skyla Tylaa 

 

Skyla Tylaa headlined this edition held in Oniru, Lagos. The American DJ delivered a great set with some of Afrobeats’ biggest stars in the house, including Wizkid and Davido.

You know it was fire when even those giants showed up to pay their respects. The night saw further appearances from the likes of Zlatan, NSG, and Darkoo.

Spotify’s “Frequency” teamed up with Even in the Day to bring the party to Truth Beach, Oniru, on the 23rd. We rocked it on the beach with sets from talented DJs like Six7even, SmallzTheDJ, WeAreAllChemicals, Calix, Titanium, and many more.

 

NATIVELAND 2023

 

Hosted by The Native Mag, NATIVELAND returned for its fifth round on Dec. 22 at SOL Beach on Victoria Island in Lagos.

Headlined by Ayra Starr, ODUMODUBLVCK, Uncle Waffles and Lancey Foux, the fest drew in one of the most diverse lineups and gave a unique experience. 

 

Spotify Wrapped 2023 Party

 

On December 9, 2023 at The Palms Mall, Lekki, Lagos, Spotify threw a party to celebrate the year’s hottest tracks and hottest stars.

Nigerian artists, Davido, YKB, Qing Madi, Young Jonn, Adekunle Gold alongside Ghanaian songbird Gyakie, made appearances, much to the excitement of the audience. There was also a lot of fun to be had at the different photobooths and the skatepark.

 

Entertainment Week Lagos (EWL)

 

Designed to elevate and empower the African creative scene, Entertainment Week Lagos promised to be an immersive experience bringing together diverse voices, ideas, and talents. And it did.

From December 13th to 20th at the Livespot Entertarium in Lagos, it was a whirlwind of conferences, panels, and parties, all celebrating the pulse of African entertainment. From movie screenings to networking sessions, masterclasses, workshops, it was a platform where industry insiders and creators positively interacted.

Popular Pan-African Rockstar, Lady Donli, put on a show for her fans and everyone interested on Dec. 8th, 2023. Lady Donli had our time and it showed. She delivered her best in all the cities that she appeared at.

 

B2TR Live With Bounce

 

B2TR and Bounce collaborated for a rave at Story Beach Club, Oniru, Lagos on Dec. 19. DJs Jessicunt, Yosa, John Banji, Codename: KND, Ifemelu C.S. were present and they kept things raging.

Palmwine Fest 

 

The fifth edition of Palmwine festival was held on Dec 23, 2023. Launched by rap duo Show Dem Camp, the festival is famed for always being enjoyable and last year, it didn’t disappoint.
