Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 10 delivered its biggest twist yet on Saturday night, September 20, with the surprise eviction of housemates Thelma Lawson and Bright Morgan, marking the show’s first Saturday night eviction in years.
The unexpected double exit was announced shortly after the weekly Saturday night party and during host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s visit to the house. Thelma was the first to be shown the door, followed moments later by Bright, leaving both housemates and viewers stunned.
Saturday evictions are rare in the BBNaija franchise, with eliminations usually reserved for Sundays. But Big Brother occasionally alters the format to heighten suspense and shake up the competition. This time, the move immediately changed the dynamics in the house as the show entered its closing stretch.
The eviction was especially emotional for some contestants. Bright’s in-house lover, Mide, broke down in tears following his departure, while Kaybobo, who had grown close to Thelma, appeared visibly shaken. Yet not all housemates were convinced. Kola and Jason Jae openly questioned whether the eviction was genuine, speculating it could be another elaborate prank.
Their skepticism stems from less than two weeks ago, when Ebuka orchestrated a fake eviction involving Dede, Joanna, and Rooboy. The trio had been asked to pack their bags and leave, only for viewers to discover they had been moved to a secret room. That twist left many contestants second-guessing Big Brother’s every move, but this time the evictions appear real.
Addressing the housemates after Thelma and Bright’s exit, Ebuka reminded them of the stakes in the competition and the need to bring their best game as Season 10 of the reality TV show enters its final two weeks.
With Thelma and Bright’s departure, 15 housemates now remain in the running for the ₦150 million grand prize. More housemates are expected to leave the “10/10” house during the proper live eviction show on Sunday, September 21.
