Femi Adebayo and Chioma Akpotha take lead in Netflix title 'Seven Doors'

Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors is the next highly anticipated Nollywood release arriving this December on Netflix. In his directorial debut, Adebayo explores 18th-19th century Nigeria, blending culture, history, and dramatic storytelling.

At its core, Seven Doors masterfully weaves together themes of love, power, tradition, and betrayal. By doing so, it transports viewers to a bygone era where the intricacies of human relationships intertwine with the steadfast forces of cultural heritage. Additionally, Adebayo not only directs the series but also takes center stage as a Yoruba king, while Chioma Akpotha complements the narrative by portraying his Igbo queen.

Together, they deliver a tale of kingship and kinship, charting a narrative of family, love, restitution, and unity trials.

Their characters’ union, a symbolic alliance between Yoruba and Igbo cultures, begins as a beacon of harmony but quickly turns into a dramatic clash when a Hausa investor disrupts the kingdom’s equilibrium. This arrival sparks conflicts that challenge deeply rooted traditions and test the resilience of their bond. As tensions escalate, the series unpacks how cultural forces and historical influences shape the destinies of individuals and communities alike.

Femi Adebayo is no stranger to compelling narratives. After the phenomenal success of Jagun Jagun, a Netflix release that won accolades at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Adebayo has set a high bar for himself. With Seven Doors, he aims to raise it even higher. Reflecting on the monumental effort behind the project, he shared:

“This is SEVEN DOORS! A limited series project which blood, sweat, and complete dedication was put in to make it work. The entire crew, cast, and I were committed from the start to making this project as authentic and compelling as possible.”

An all-star cast of Nollywood’s finest talents seamlessly adds depth to the series. Notably, Adebayo Salami, Ronke Oshodi, Muyiwa Ademola, Jide Kosoko, Aisha Lawal, Yinka Quadri, and Gabriel Afolayan join Adebayo and Akpotha to bring this rich, multilayered story to life. Together, their performances vividly portray the challenges of an era shaped by the interplay of tradition, power, and personal ambition.
