In recent times, the Nigerian music industry has been driven by a new wave of rising artists playing with experimental sounds. Yet Kayode’s new single, “Aimoye”, has proven to be a disruption.

After blowing up the music scene with previous hits like “Live Forever” and “Still Figuring Life,” Kayode has made it clear he’s not done yet. And his latest release shows that he is as versatile as ever. After dropping viral snippets on social media, the artist-producer has finally released the full track, ready to take over the industry.

With “Aimoye,” Kayode leads the new school of Yoruba-Trap on the Fuji-sampled song. The song takes a nod to traditional music, where it prominently samples the Fuji legend Saheed Osupa’s classic work “Aimoye Eniyan.”

The production follows a razor-sharp uptempo beat layered over chest-thumping bars and punchlines, giving room for Kayode to blend indigenous Fuji elements with modern trap energy. The song’s infectious beat, marked by Saheed Osupa’s sampled chorus, stands out the most.

On “Aimoye,” Kayode showed remarkable range as an artist and producer, bringing indigenous music to a younger generation. And with a rising wave of experimental sounds in Nigerian music, Kayode will cement his stance in the industry.
