VVS Lagos Returns in July, Introduces Open Call and Awards for Fifth Edition

This year’s programme will unfold across exhibitions, runway presentations, screenings, and private convenings staged throughout Lagos.

VVS Lagos, one of Africa’s foremost platforms for creative convergence, will return for its fifth edition from July 5 to 12, 2026, bringing with it a new thematic direction, expanded developmental programmes, and a broadened network of institutional and commercial partnerships.

The 2026 edition will be anchored by the theme Afromodernism — a framing that speaks to a growing movement of African creative authorship across fashion, art, and visual culture. At a recent press briefing, organisers described the theme as reflecting a generation of practitioners working across fashion, visual art, and digital culture in ways that turn creativity into scalable business.

Since its debut in 2022, VVS Lagos has recorded more than 8,000 attendees and presented over 100 brands and 120 artists across four editions, establishing itself as a significant node within the continent’s creative ecosystem. The platform convenes fashion designers, visual artists, filmmakers, and cultural thinkers whose work increasingly shapes global conversations.

This year’s programme will unfold across exhibitions, runway presentations, screenings, and private convenings staged throughout Lagos, with a dedicated partnership with Nahous anchoring a significant portion of the week’s schedule.

A notable addition to the 2026 edition is an open call for emerging creatives. Building on the Future Labs initiative introduced in 2025, which presented 25 emerging visual artists and 20 emerging fashion designers, selected applicants will gain access to mentorship, potential grant support, and the opportunity to present within the VVS Lagos framework.

On the institutional front, VVS Lagos will extend its collaboration with the British Council, expanding the joint programme to span both art and fashion. The platform also continues its partnership with Ledrop Nigeria, activating cultural experiences in collaboration with Glenfiddich and Casa Maestri.

A new partnership with the Africa Creators Summit marks a further evolution for the platform, signalling an intent to bridge cultural production and digital distribution. The collaboration will see designers, artists, and filmmakers working directly with leading content creators to produce original, platform-native work, extending the reach of African creative output beyond the physical event and into global digital ecosystems.

To mark its fifth anniversary, VVS Lagos will inaugurate a series of honorary awards recognising exceptional brands and individuals across the arts, creative business, and creative technology. The awards are intended to celebrate those shaping the future of African innovation and cultural expression.

Beyond the July programme, the platform is also expanding its year-round footprint. A collaborative music project is scheduled for release in early June, ahead of the main event, while a mobile app aimed at sustaining engagement within its growing creative and business network will also be unveiled.

VVS Lagos increasingly sees itself not just as an annual event, but as a system for connecting African creativity to audiences, business, and distribution.
