Two of Africa’s biggest teams, Nigeria and Ghana, will play a friendly on Friday at the Stade de Marrakech.

Although the Super Eagles played brilliantly to advance to the Africa Cup of Nations final last month, Ivory Coast, the hosts, eventually took home the prize.

Interim Manager, Finidi George, will surely use the March friendly to check out as many players as possible as Nigeria prepares for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, and Wilfried Ndidi should all be taken into consideration as the headliners due to the absence of Victor Osimhen.

On the other hand, the Black Stars’ performance in the Ivory Coast’s main tournament was subpar, as they did not qualify for the round of 16.

Given their superiority over Ghana, Nigeria is expected to prove their mettle on the field.

Ghana Preview

For Ghana’s new manager, Otto Addo, the return from injury of Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey is a piece of positive news.

David Akologo, Ibrahim Osman, Nathaniel Adjei, and Diomande Mohammed have been handed maiden call-ups.

This will be the first game after the Africa Cup of Nations for both West African teams.

While the Super Eagles made it to the final, where they were defeated by the host, Ivory Coast, the Black Stars failed to advance from the group stage.

Under new manager Otto Addo, the Ghanaians will attempt to start over from scratch. Ghana’s AFCON campaign was incredibly disappointing, even at the group stage.

With Otto Addo back in charge, Ghana will try to defeat the fiercely dominant Nigerian team to kick off their new era on a strong note.

Nigeria Preview

In the match, Nigeria will also play Ghana, with new management in charge.

The NFF decided not to renew the contract of Jose Peseiro, following the heartbreaking outcome of the AFCON final, despite his excellent performance.

Nigeria VS Ghana: History

Since 2014, the two nations have played four times against one another.

Interestingly, Ghana won all four games with a comfortable 2-0 margin; just one ended in a draw.

Nigeria will be looking to utilize their recent outstanding performance in Africa to earn an important victory after Ghana eliminated them from contention for a spot in the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
