In celebration of Africa Day, which is observed annually on May 25, social media giant Facebook extended its ‘Made by Africa, Loved by the World’ campaign to spotlight the creative brilliance and global influence of Africans on and off the continent. This year marks the fifth edition of the campaign by Meta’s flagship platform.

With the theme “Where Culture Meets Connection,” Facebook continues to position itself as a hub for conversation and collaboration among African creatives from diverse backgrounds. This year’s spotlight featured six internationally recognised talents: Nigerian rapper Ladipoe, Ghanaian dancer and content creator Lisa Quama, multidisciplinary artist Gilbert Asante, South African fashion designer David Tlale, filmmaker Ofentse Mwase, and Kenyan animation studio Fatboy Animations.

As part of the campaign, three short cinematic films were premiered. These visual stories explore the personal journeys, cultural influences, and global reach of the featured creatives. Each film weaves together the uniqueness of their work into a shared narrative driven by creativity and the power of collaboration.

Speaking on the initiative, Kezia Anim-Addo, Meta’s Communications Director for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey, said: “We’re incredibly excited to shine a spotlight and celebrate just some of the amazing creative talent that casts a light on our culture and connects us to the world. Facebook is a leading place for conversations around cultural moments, and through this campaign, we’re not only celebrating individual success stories – we’re also showcasing how culture and social media together can drive meaningful connection and inspiration.”

The short films are currently available for viewing on the Meta Africa Facebook page.
